Cash App is introducing a new way to make payments with the launch of the Cash App Wand, an NFC-enabled accessory that allows users to pay without needing a phone or physical debit card.
The wearable payment device is designed as a keychain-style accessory that can be clipped onto bags, clothing, or keys, making it ideal for concerts, festivals, and phone-free events. The launch marks the first release in the company’s new Cash App Tags lineup, which focuses on combining payments with fashion and personalization.
Owned by Block, Cash App says the new payment accessory was inspired by Gen Z shopping habits and demand for collectible and customizable products. According to the company, many younger users already personalize their Cash App debit cards with custom artwork, emojis, and unique designs.
The Cash App Wand works anywhere Visa tap-to-pay payments are accepted and includes built-in security protections such as fraud monitoring, instant transaction alerts, and the ability to lock or disable the tag directly from the app.
Customers must have an active Cash App Card to use the wearable. Eligible users ages 13 and older can purchase the Cash App Wand for $25 plus tax, with additional Cash App Tag designs expected to launch later this summer.
